CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS

Before using your turkish cofee pot for the first time follow these easy steps to clean the inside of the pot.

  1. Rinse the pot with warm water to remove any dust or particles.
  2. Fill the pot with milk, ensuring that it covers the entire interior surface.
  3. Gently heat the pot on the stove over low to medium heat for about 10-15 minutes. Avoid bringing the milk to a boil.
  4. As the milk warms up, it will react with the tin and help create a protective layer on the interior surface of the pot.
  5. After 10-15 minutes, remove the pot from the heat and allow it to cool down completely.
  6. Once the pot has cooled, discard the milk and rinse the pot thoroughly with warm water.
  7. Use a soft sponge or cloth to wipe the interior, making sure it’s clean and ready for use.

This process will help season the tin lining, enhancing the flavors of your coffee while also creating a protective barrier that prevents the coffee from reacting with the copper. Remember, seasoning the pot with milk is a traditional practice that has been used for generations to ensure a delightful Turkish coffee experience.

Regular cleaning after use:

Cleaning the Inside (Tin):

  1. Rinse with warm water: After each use, rinse the inside of the pot with warm water to remove any remaining coffee grounds.
  2. Use a soft sponge or cloth: Gently clean the tin lining with a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid using abrasive materials to prevent damage to the tin coating.
  3. Avoid harsh chemicals: Refrain from using harsh detergents or cleaning agents, as they can erode the tin lining. Stick to warm water and a soft sponge for regular cleaning.

Cleaning the Outside (Copper):

  1. Create a natural cleaner: Mix equal parts of white vinegar and salt to form a paste. Alternatively, you can use lemon juice instead of vinegar.
  2. Apply the cleaner: Use a soft cloth or sponge to apply the vinegar and salt paste to the copper surface. Gently rub the mixture onto the copper to remove tarnish and stains.
  3. Rinse and dry: After applying the paste, rinse the coffee pot thoroughly with warm water. Then, use a dry cloth to buff the copper surface until it shines.
  4. Polish (optional): If you want to enhance the shine further, you can use a copper polish specifically designed for copper cookware. Follow the polish instructions for the best results.

General Tips:

  1. Avoid abrasive materials: When cleaning both the inside and outside, avoid using abrasive materials or scrubbers that can damage the pot’s surfaces.
  2. Don’t use a dishwasher: Hand wash the coffee pot as dishwashers can be too harsh on the delicate tin lining and may cause it to deteriorate prematurely.
  3. Regular maintenance: Clean your Turkish coffee pot after each use to prevent coffee residue build-up and to maintain its appearance.

By following these cleaning tips, you can ensure that your Turkish coffee pot remains in good condition, allowing you to enjoy delicious coffee and keep the copper exterior shining beautifully.
